About WellnesFree

The Bible teaches that our body is a temple. God has also provided inspiration to many researchers, healers and scientists who have given us many ways to maintain good health, prevent disease, and recover from illnesses. The Nutrition and Lifestyle for Healthy Self-Reliance course will help you work with others to apply spiritual truths and basic, evidence-based scientific principles.

There are strong forces in the world that undermine a healthy lifestyle. As you push against those forces, you may encounter strong opposition, perhaps even from those closest to you. This program is designed to help you join with other like-minded people who need support and encouragement as they push back against things that undermine important principles of healthy living.

Your Healthy Self-Reliance group will function much like a council. This means that there won’t be a teacher or health-care expert in the group. Instead, you will read together, discuss and choose to follow basic principles of healthy living suggested in the guidebook. It’s like a round-table discussion. You’ll want to …

• Contribute to discussions and activities. No one should dominate the conversation, especially the facilitator.

• Support and encourage other members of the group. Ask questions, show interest and learn.

• Share positive and relevant comments.

• Make and keep commitments.

Why should you trust this method of self-improvement? Because we have learned that when we are given (1) basic principles based on the best weight of scientific evidence, (2) with many proven options to choose from, (3) without judgment or shame and (4) with support and encouragement from others also making similar changes; we are more likely to see positive results. And, when we add a spiritual component, we feel a power greater than ourselves enabling and prompting us. All this gives us the best environment for real and lasting improvement.

We will follow these three basic nutrition guidelines agreed upon by virtually every government nutrition agency in the world and by most independent nutrition professionals:

1. Eat mostly whole plant foods including vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds.

2. Avoid or minimize highly processed foods such as sweets, cooking oils, and highly processed grains.

3. Moderate, minimize or eliminate animal products.

We will also work together on other lifestyle habits like exercise, sleep and emotional resilience.

Each group of approximately 5 to 12 people will meet for 1.5 to 2 hours weekly for 10 to 12 sessions.

Making changes that bring real results requires faith and effort. To make measurable progress, you will want to be committed to attend every week and do about 4 to 10 hours of work weekly outside group meetings.

Here is a list of reasons for choosing to participate in a Healthy Self-Reliance group.

In 2006 he received his Doctor of Naprapathy, a branch of alternative medicine therapy that focuses on the evaluation and treatments of neuro-muscular-skeletal conditions and nutrition—the science of easing aches, pains and ailments related to stress and disease through manipulating soft tissue and unblocking tension. He has trained hundreds of therapists in manual manipulations designed to stretch specific connective tissues to improve structural alignment and provide pain relief. His treatments are beneficial for various ailments including but not limited to breast cancer, migraines, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck and back injuries and ailments associated with pregnancy.

Dr. Walker is trained in Eastern and Western modalities and is also a practitioner in Tai Chi and Chi Gong—martial arts effective for self-defense and healing. They help to align breath, movement and awareness for physical exercise, healing and meditation. These disciplines use steady breathing coordinated with slow, stylized repetition of controlled, fluid movement and calm, mindful thought. The object is to awaken our true, healthy, energetic and positive nature.

In Chicago he built several successful companies and developed many new techniques including but not limited to Diversified Reflex Therapy (DRT), the original Diversified Hot Stone Therapy, Myo Chi Do (The way of muscle life-force) and uses for homeopathic products. He travels, trains and lectures internationally and gives riveting speeches on a wide range of holistic subjects.

He is also trained and certified in Nutritional Immunology—the science of using uncommon nutritional excellence in the prevention and healing of many health conditions. His practice involves prescribing common whole foods found in the supermarket along with lesser-known whole foods, herbs and essential oils specifically formulated to support the body’s vital functions, especially the immune system. His philosophy is that “prevention is better than cure” and far less costly—even FREE. That’s why he calls his company WellnessFree.

His practice is built on the five pillars of health—nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress-management and community connection. His ultimate goal is the empowerment of individuals to freely manage their own health future as much as possible with the expert advice of their professional health-care team,
